The Technology Department is very proud to honor and recognize Josh Mahowald as the August 2026 Employee of the Month. Josh’s work is a testament to our core purpose: to serve our staff, students, and families by supporting the delivery of excellence in student learning and daily experiences.

Josh’s impact on Wayzata Public Schools spans an impressive 22-year tenure. Beginning as a Program Assistant and evolving into his current role as an Information Systems Specialist, Josh has developed a profound institutional knowledge that serves as a cornerstone for our department.

The Buildings and Grounds Department is pleased to recommend Karen Schwendeman as the July Employee of the Month.

The Employee of the Month should be someone who stands out among their peers and makes a difference. Karen Schwendeman has been that person. Karen has worked for the Buildings and Grounds Department since June 2016 as our department's administrative professional.

This past June, a record-breaking 36 students from Wayzata High School competed against 15,000 peers worldwide at the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) International Leadership Conference in Indianapolis. To qualify for the event, students had to place in the top three at the state level. WHS had the largest number of Minnesota students from a single school.
